COURT JUDGE



Iowa uses a merit selection system for appointing district judges. This constitutional commission selects whom they believe are the two most qualified applicants and the governor appoints one of them district judge. The commission is accepting applications to fill the opening that occurred upon the resignation of Judge Paul L. Macek. This district judge will serve Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine and Scott Counties.


Any person interested in this position may obtain an application from the District Court Administrator’s Office, Scott County Courthouse, Davenport, Iowa, or the Clerk of Court offices in Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine and Scott counties. Applications should be on file with or postmarked to the District Court Administrator’s Office on or before Friday, October 20, 2017.


Applicants must be members of the Bar of Iowa, residents of the Seventh Judicial District, and of such age that they will be able to serve an initial and one regular term of office before the age of 72 years.


Candidates may make themselves available for pre- meeting interviews with Commissioners. Any citizen may communicate with any Commissioner expressing their views on a candidate.


The Judicial Nominating Committee will meet in formal session on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Second Floor Conference Room No. 258 of the Scott County Courthouse, Davenport, Iowa. Candidates will be interviewed, and at the conclusion of the interviews, the Commission will nominate two of the candidates for the Judgeship. The Governor will name one of the two nominees as a District Judge.

Notice is hereby given that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has under review an air quality construction permit application submitted by Archer Daniels Midland Company-Corn Plant, located at 1251 Beaver Channel Parkway, Clinton, Iowa.



The proposed permitting action is to correct the emission point parameters associated with 34 existing emission sources. The proposed permitting action also includes an update to control equipment monitoring and emission unit description where applicable.



The proposed permitting action amends the SO2 attainment requirements (emission point parameters) specified in Administrative Consent Order (ACO) No. 90-AQ-10. The ACO provides for attainment and maintenance of SO2 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and was approved into the state implementation plan (SIP) by the U.S. EPA on November 1, 1991 (56 FR 56158). This proposed permitting action maintains predicted attainment of the SO2 NAAQs in the Clinton area.



For Project 16-380, an electronic copy of all the materials the applicant has submitted, the proposed permits, the Fact Sheet (Technical Support Document), the application, and all other correspondence are available for public inspection on the Air Quality Bureau website at https://programs.iowadnr.gov/airqualityconstructionpermits/Pages/PublicComment/Search.aspx.
